The
online magazine Ovi magazine seems to be so popular that Jone
Nikula, the long-haired, goatee-wearing former Finnish Idols judge,
has decided to use the same name on his forthcoming new free magazine.
According
to the marketing and advertising weekly Markkinointi & Mainonta,
Plus-Ryhmä/Kustannus Oy Vista are launching a new free paper
called - you guessed it - Ovi! The paper will be distributed in
the Helsinki Region, as well as Tampere and Turku; the editor-in-chief
will be Jone Nikula.
The original
Ovi editors, Thanos Kalamidas and Asa Butcher, have informed the
publishing company and their legal advisor about the EU laws.
Whether Jone
was influenced by Thanos and Asa's Ovi was not mentioned in their
Press Release, but he will certainly become aware of the fact
over the next few months. The European laws protecting against
copycats and fourteen months of successful history will give them
a good advantage.
Finally, the
copycats are the ones who will lose out in the end because they
are going to invest money in something that comes second. They
will have to compete with a magazine that is putting adverts for
free and naturally the first thing somebody will do is Google
Ovi magazine. They are going to find www.ovimagazine.com
a few thousands times.
If Jone Nikula
or anybody connected with this Ovi impostor wishes to contact
the original Ovi, please email info@ovimagazine.com
